Our varsity teams traveled to Worcester, MA to wrap up their spring racing season at the USRowing Northeast Youth Championships Regatta last weekend. This is the most competitive regatta Row New York attends, because, in addition to their traditional area opponents from New York and Long Island, athletes compete against top programs from Boston and Connecticut. Some of the crews they faced will go on to compete and win Youth National Championships. Row New York crews pitted themselves against some tough competition and left it all on the race course.

The regatta was run very well, and the weather was great — a fantastic way to close out a spring season that saw shortened and cancelled regattas and just about every iteration of poor weather one could imagine. The course on Lake Quinsigamond is home to many prestigious races and provided a great opportunity for our student-athletes to experience a new regatta site, especially one that is home to the EARC Sprints, which was held just a week prior.

Row New Yorker’s left Worcester knowing that they put forth their best efforts. For our seniors, it was an emotional event as their last spring race with Row New York!

“Both programs [Queens and Manhattan] ended the season on great note with good racing in a very competitive event!” – Manhattan Coach Sasha Bailey
