Row New York Receives Anita DeFrantz Award at Golden Oars Dinner
Row New York was presented the US Rowing Association’s first Anita DeFrantz Award honoring leaders of diversity and inclusion in the sport of rowing at the Golden Oars Awards Dinner held at the New York Athletic Club on November 30.
Executive Director Amanda Kraus received a standing ovation from the packed house as she accepted the award directly from the hands of Anita DeFrantz, bronze medalist from the 1976 games in Montreal and current member of the International Olympic Committee.
The Golden Oars crowd included several generations of Olympians, ranging from gold medalist Bill Stowe from the 1964 Tokyo games to the gold-medal winning women’s 8+ from the 2008 games in Beijing.
Thanks to US Rowing and congratulations to Amanda and Row New York for this prestigious recognition of leadership in the sport.
