Six crews represented Row New York at our 2018 appearance at the Northeast Rowing Championships. Our athletes raced 2,000 meters time-trial-style for a chance to move on to the final. They competed against more than 2,000 athletes on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Words from our coaches:
“The Women’s Novice 8+ came in 9th place in the time trials, narrowly missing the Grand Finals by only 2 spots, finishing with a time of 7:55.7!
The Women’s Novice 4+ came in 13th place in the time trials 8:33.5 out of 20 boats! The ladies in the 4 had doubled up into the 8 and I applaud them for doing back-to-back 2000 meter races!
The Men’s Novice 2x’s made it to Grand finals! Harrison/Ari finished in 2nd place in the time trials and 4th place in the Grand finals! Gus/Rob finished in 4th in the time trials and 6th in the Grand finals!”

Our smaller group this weekend did a tremendous job representing our team!
We raced our Junior 8+ in the Varsity 8+ category and a Novice 4+ and it was well worth the trip. Not only did we get to compete with some of the fastest crews in the country, we were also able to see our potential speed in the year to come. Both boats took the best strokes of the season on the course and achieved what we always strive for, being the best version of yourself. We are looking forward to coming back to Queens and celebrating the gains we’ve made this year at our end of the year BBQ before getting back to work on even more boat speed for next year.
