Our free community events bring people together on and off the water through inclusive, welcoming experiences. From learn-to-row sessions and alumni rows to scrimmages, open houses, and family-friendly celebrations, these events are designed to connect our community through the sport of rowing. Whether you’re stepping into a boat for the first time, returning to the sport, or simply looking to spend time by the water, there’s a place for everyone at our boathouses.

USRowing National Return to Rowing Day
Saturday, May 30, 2026 • 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Join us at our Queens boathouse for a relaxed, low-pressure opportunity to get back on the water, reconnect with the sport, and enjoy time at the boathouse. Whether you rowed in high school, college, or later in life, these sessions are a welcoming space to revisit the basics, shake off the rust, and row alongside fellow experienced athletes.
Queens Day: Learn-to-Row
Saturday, July 18 • 12:00–4:00 p.m.
Join us at our Queens boathouse for community learn-to-row sessions and discover the sport of rowing in a fun, welcoming environment. These relaxed, beginner-friendly sessions are designed to give newcomers a chance to get on the water, learn the basics, and experience the joy of rowing—no experience necessary.
City of Water Day with Harlem River Community Rowing

Spectator Event: Community Boat Races
10:00 a.m. – 12 p.m • Peter J. Sharp Dock, Manhattan
Bring a blanket or chair and refreshments, and cheer from the park as Row New York students, alumni, and Harlem River Community Rowing (HRCR) race in a friendly scrimmage. On-water participation is reserved for experienced rowers only.
Get In The Boat! Learn-to-Row Sessions
12:00-1:00 p.m. • Peter J. Sharp Dock, Manhattan
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. • Roberto Clemente State Park, The Bronx
Meet Row New York and HRCR coaches and athletes, learn how to erg, sit in a rowing shell on the water, and learn about our beginner-friendly programs. Fitted athletic clothing, sneakers, sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen are recommended. Safety gear and equipment will be provided.
