The Peter Jay Sharp Dock is on the Harlem River in Inwood Manhattan, home of the Munsee Lenape Tribe (Lunaapeew) and Wappinger people. Lenape descendants are currently living in the Lenape Nations in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Ontario.

Directions

By 1 train

Take the 1 to Dyckman St. Walk north from the 1 Train exit to the intersection of Nagle and Dyckman. Take a right (southeast) on Dyckman and continue to Harlem River Drive/10th Ave.

Cross over Harlem River Drive at PS 5 and continue walking on the bike path/road into the park. The boathouse will be on the left.

By A train

Take the A to Dyckman St. Walk east five blocks on Dyckman St. until it dead-ends at Harlem River Drive. Cross over Harlem River Drive at PS 5 and continue walking on the bike path/road into the park. The boathouse will be on the left.

Parking at the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse is not advisable. Limited standby parking is available at PS5, however, unattended vehicles will be ticketed. Alternatively, parking may be available on Dyckman Street or 10th Ave.

By car south of the boathouse

  • Take the FDR Drive north to Harlem River Drive.
  • Take Harlem River Drive for approximately 5 miles.
  • At the intersection of Dyckman St. and Harlem River Drive, keep right at the light onto 10th Ave. Immediately turn right at PS 5 onto the unnamed street under the pedestrian bridge. The entrance is marked ‘do not enter.’ This notice is invalid.
  • Park at the back of the dead end.
  • From the back of the parking lot walk into the park and through the vegetable garden.
  • Continue to walk through the green gate at the far end onto the big paved bike path/road.
  • Follow the path south to the river until you see the boathouse on your left.

By car north of the boathouse

  • Take 87 South/Major Deegan South to the 207th/University Bridge. Take the bridge to Manhattan.
  • Turn left on 10th Ave. and take it for about 0.4 miles.
  • Take the first left after 201st St. on the unnamed street under the pedestrian bridge. The entrance is marked ‘do not enter.’ This notice is invalid.
  • Park at the back of the dead end.
  • From the back of the parking lot walk into the park and through the vegetable garden.
  • Continue to walk through the green gate at the far end onto the big paved bike path/road.
  • Follow the path south to the river until you see the boathouse on your left.
