Row New York headed back to the Schuylkill River for the Philadelphia Youth Regatta this past weekend and closed out the summer with some strong results. Abre Bokhari, Kalieha Nozile, Veronica Castillo, Jareline Guerrero, Emily Quaranta, Jessica Levy, Margot Warshaw, Alaura Zayas, and Danna Matute pushed their boat down the 2000 meter course to an easy victory in the heats and returned in the afternoon to take a silver medal. The crew was able to hold quality in the dash, taking another silver to end the day, ahead of our two other hard-pulling Row New York crews. In the J16 8+, a crew of our rising novices were able to push past Syracuse to take the bronze.

Three other major developments headlined the day. First, several Row New York seniors rowed in their last race and are now leaving us…we wish them luck with the college rowing scene! Second, we raced a quad for just the third time, which pushed past Saratoga by a length to finish third in its race. Finally, The RNY Middle School Program raced for the first time ever and performed admirably against the senior level high school girls in the 500m Dash…congrats Middle Schoolers!!!

Finally, in the spirit of the event, Ben Franklin himself was there to present medals (attached: Ben and Kalieha)…a little disorienting at first, but the crews were happy to take home the hardware.
