Meet our 2023 NYC Half Marathon Charity Runners
VIRGINIA DODENHOFF
Virginia began rowing during her freshman year at The Gunnery. She quickly became obsessed and continued her rowing and academic career at The University of Alabama. After graduation, she spent some time in Denver and coached at Mile High Rowing. Now, she’s back in NYC and currently serves as Co-President of the Associate Board for Row New York.
There are two reasons she’s running the half:
1. She feels washed up and needed an excuse to work out.
2. She has fallen in love with Row New York’s mission and wanted to help make an impact. Rowing changed her life; she says that wouldn’t be the person she is today without the sport.
KRISTINE TUCKER
This is Kristine’s second consecutive year running the half for Row New York and she looks forward to making this a yearly tradition! She’s proud to support Row New York and help share in a mission that is extremely close to her heart as a former rower and first-generation college graduate. Supporting the next generation of rowers and highlighting the incredible work done at Row New York are her reasons for putting in the miles on March 19th.
JO VICTORIO
Jo has been a part of the Row New York family since 2018 and she feels that there is no better way to give back to an organization that has provided so many opportunities for her.
She didn’t understand the true definition of a team until she joined a rowing team. She became a rower in 2005 as a student at Belleville High School in New Jersey. Before joining the team, she didn’t find a place where she felt like she belonged. Rowing (and her teammates) welcomed her with open arms.
Since then, her life has become all about rowing. She became a Head Coach of various programs on the high school, collegiate, and Masters level. She continues to compete as a Masters athlete for the Passaic River Rowing Association.
