On Saturday, October 23rd, 19 members of Row New York’s novice team traveled to the Urban Assembly Institute in downtown Brooklyn to attend Girls Leadership Day. Keynote speaker Bonnie St. John opened the event with her inspirational story of winning a silver and two bronze medals for ski racing at the 1984 Paralympics. Next, the girls attended workshops on health, safety, and economic security. Finally, they ended the day with a networking lunch, where they had the opportunity to mingle and chat with professional women from a variety of careers, ranging from journalism to finance to education to the law. Thank you to the New York Women’s Foundation and Girls Inc. for hosting this empowering event, and thank you to the Row New York girls who attended—you made us all proud!
