This week, parents and family of Row New Yorkers got an up close and personal look at the Row New York programs and offices. Parents Night is held at the beginning of each season by Row New York staff to brief parents/guardians and other family members on the Row New York philosophy of empowerment through rowing and its daily practice through our programs.

The Row New York girls and their families gathered at our Long Island City office for the first three nights of the week, October 3-5. Monday was devoted to varsity family members, Tuesday to novice, and Wednesday to middle school. Coaches for each team led their respective sessions. They briefed parents on Row New York’s benefits, the commitment necessary from rowers and families, the organization’s physical and academic goals for the rowers, and the mechanics of daily practice and academics.

Held in the same room where the rowers pull hard on the ergs and think hard at academics, Parents Night is designed to more fully integrate parents with their rowers’ academic, health, and character-building activities and progress.

Row New York values the chance to interact with more members of the communities we serve – including their youngest, most pint-sized members!
