Nearly 200 Row New York friends collected at our Long Island City office this past Saturday for our annual Jingle Mingle holiday celebration. This seasonal favorite features erg relays, holiday foods, and mingling. This year’s social had a higher attendance than ever before thanks to our new rowers, families, and supporters from Manhattan. In addition to the spirited erg competitions, attendees enjoyed delicious biscuits, cookies, sandwiches, and other culinary goodies that filled everyone with good cheer.
The morning started with races for our varsity, novice, and middle school rowers before categories broadened to include others. A children’s row kicked off this section, followed by a parents and rowers joint relay, an open relay, adaptive contests, and novice and adult masters races. This series of events allowed the different members of our rowing family to mingle and get to know each other, generating copious energy and good cheer that literally warmed everyone.
Our celebration was aided by catering from our local neighborhood businesses. Blend, a nearby Latin Fusion spot, donated sandwiches, while Dunkin’ Donuts Long Island City provided the all-important coffee that fueled attendees. Mario’s Deli, a favorite local establishment of Row New York’s staff, donated beverages. We thank our friends and partners in the local business community.
On Saturday we opened our new second-floor suite to the gathered crowds to offer apparel. Many celebrants left our office with more Row New York gear than when they arrived! If you would like to support Row New York and sport our stylish gear, you can do so online at our JL Racing store.
